Many people have asked me why I am doing this and I don’t really have a straight answer. There aren’t many opportunities for real adventure in the modern world and this will be a real adventure!
Obviously I want to raise at least £92k for my chosen Charities but walking the country and meeting people who support other clubs in a neutral environment will be great fun, to join them in being fan of the club I am visiting that day will be an interesting experience.
Although I am a die-hard Pompey fan, I will hope to put that allegience to one side and just enjoy being at another club for a day and to learn from that clubs fans just what it means to them and to learn more about Football Fans the length and bredth of the country.
I’m sure i’ll have hundreds of stories to listen to and a few of my own to tell once I arrive home.
I won’t be able to do this Walk without the support of people to help organise the 9 Legs that I have divided the Walk up into so I am looking for people to help.
What would you have to do?
- Organise contact with the Football Clubs on your patch
- Arrange support from Trusts/Fan groups whilst I visit the club
- Find me a place to sleep!
- Liase with local media to get the Walk publicised and getting money for the Charities
Plus come up with any idas of your own about how we can achieve this amazing feat!
